Ryan J. Post, Ph.D.
About Me
I am an Assistant Professor of Psychology & Neuroscience at Providence College, where I recently joined the faculty in Fall 2023. My research focuses on how coherent behaviors emerge when multiple survival needs are in conflict, and how hypothalamic circuits coordinate these priorities. My lab uses a combination of behavioral, neurophysiological, and anatomical approaches to investigate these and other questions.
As one of the faculty for Providence College's growing Neuroscience program, I currently teach Introduction to Neuroscience and Behavioral Neuroscience and am looking forward to developing new courses for our Psychology and Neuroscience majors.
Previously, I was a National Research Service Award Postdoctoral Fellow in the Betley Lab at the University of Pennsylvania and a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Psychology Department at Bryn Mawr College.
My most rewarding work throughout my academic career has come through the interactions I've had with undergraduates, both as a research mentor in the lab and a teacher in the classroom. I encourage students interested in joining my lab to reach out to me via email.
